Master Deputy Sheriff Joseph “Shane” Robbins was fatally injured in the line of duty when his patrol car crashed into a tree off of Bomber Road, east of Clark Road, north of Bartow.
Master Deputy Robbins served with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years. He spent many of those years working as a detective in the Special Victims Unit. His personal mission was to protect children.
Master Deputy Robbins joined the agency as a Deputy Sheriff in 1998.
He was 40 years old at the time of his death, and was married, with five children.
