On November 25, 2021, 44-year old Roy Newton Jr. was riding a motorized bike at around 6 p.m.
Roy was struck by a vehicle on Carl Floyd Road near Executive Road South in Winter Haven.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help, nor did he or she call 911. The driver just left with no regard to Roy’s well-being.
When first responders arrived at the scene, Roy was conscious and speaking as he was being taken to the hospital.
About four days later, while still hospitalized, Roy’s health began to decline. It was discovered that he had a brain bleed.
On December 2, 2021, Roy Newton passed away from his injuries.
The PCSO Traffic Homicide Unit recovered a side view mirror from the crash scene and they determined it came from a gray Lexus ES 350 (similar to the one in the photo).
Since that time, no new information has surfaced.
