UNSOLVED FATAL HIT & RUN:
Seven years ago, on Sunday, November 26th, 2017, 29-year old Barry Powell, Jr. went for a walk along State Road 60, east of Armour Road near Bartow.
At around 1:30 a.m., Barry was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver did not stop, nor did he or she call 911.
A passerby noticed Barry and did call 911, but by that time, it was about 7:21 a.m.
Based on evidence left at the scene, PCSO Traffic Homicide detectives believe the vehicle that hit Barry was a black vehicle.
Unfortunately, no new evidence has been found, and nobody has come forward with any information.
This hit & run remains unsolved, but the Polk County Sheriff’s Office would like to change that, and bring the driver to justice.
