Torres, Casique Lead Polk State Soccer To 5-0 Rout In Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE — Anisa Lahbiki, Noemi Casique, and Zoe Torres stole the show for Polk State Soccer on Saturday night. The three combined for all the scoring as the Eagles picked up their first win of the year against Trinity Baptist College JV, 5-0.

Casique got the scoring started in the 10th minute on a beautiful feed from Lahbiki. A little more than four minutes later, the roles were reversed. Lahbiki scored her first goal of the year while Casique recorded the assist to give the Eagles (1-3) a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Torres scored a pair of goals over less than an 11-minute span. Casique capped the scoring with her second goal of the night in the 83rd minute. Angie Wallin recorded the assist.

The Eagles dominated statistically, finishing with 23 shots and 17 on goal to just four total shots for the Hawks.

After a busy first three matches, goalkeeper Leona Kraus saved all four shots that came her way on Saturday night. Isabella Ruiz added a pair of saves in relief. Brandalynn Sims was one of the bright spots for Trinity Baptist, finishing with 12 saves.

“I’m very proud of our team,” Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. “Their unselfishness translated into a great performance. It’s always nice when you have to ask players to be selfish.”

Following its first win of the season, Polk State will seek its first Region 8 victory of the year on Wednesday when it hosts No. 11 Daytona State College. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
