Tavares Mayor Thanks Those Who Aided In Emergency Operations

“On behalf of a grateful city, thank you to everyone who supported the mission of the Emergency Operations during Hurricane Milton 2024. Power is getting restored, roads are being opened, and brush is being picked up.

Hurricane Milton was like no other storm ever seen in the history of Tavares. Thank you to our residents and businesses for listening to the warnings and remaining safe. I also want to thank our city employees. These faithful public servants worked tirelessly around the clock in our Emergency Operations Center and on the streets of America’s Seaplane City, monitoring and responding to incidents as they restored order.

Milton continues to move away from east central Florida. However, given the amount and extent of the flooding rain and wind damage, it remains hazardous in many places.

A stretch of dry weather is forecast to build across Lake County tomorrow and throughout next week, resulting in favorable conditions during response and recovery operations.

The Citizens Information Line (CIL) remains at 24-hour operations until Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1900. CIL will then be open from 0700 to 1900 daily until further notice.

Sincerely,
Bob Grenier, Mayor”
