WINTER HAVEN — The friendly confines of the Health Center proved to be friendly for Polk State Volleyball on Monday night. The Eagles celebrated Labor Day with a straight-set win over Webber International University JV.
After a tight 25-23 first set, Polk State (2-1) rolled in the final two sets. It won the last two 25-14 and 25-16, respectively.
Ella Lopez continued to shine for Polk State, finishing with a team-high 19 kills and eight digs. The freshman finished with an outstanding .457 hitting percentage.
In her Polk State debut, Sophia Torres finished with a match-high 25 assists. Isabella Pedrosa added 11 digs to go with five kills.
By completing the season sweep of the Warriors, Polk State is over .500 for the first time this season. The Eagles will wrap up non-conference play on Wednesday night at St. Johns River State College.
