On August 31, 2024, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Eustis regarding the defendant, Chelsea Smith, burglarizing an occupied dwelling and destroying multiple items on the property. The victim described the defendant as having brass knuckles while committing the burglary and provided a vehicle description. The defendant fled the area in a vehicle prior to the deputy’s arrival. Deputies worked diligently to locate Smith over the course of two shift rotations. On September 1, 2024, deputies located Smith after gathering intel regarding her location. Smith was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail, where she was charged with multiple felonies.
