MINNEOLA – When the Lake Minneola High School football season kicks off later this month, it will do so with a new coach and a new secondary logo.
Coach Mike McGlynn, a retired eight-year professional player in the NFL, is starting his first season with the Hawks as their head football coach. To signify the fresh start, fans will see a fresh new look with the use of a secondary team logo. The original Hawk logo is here to stay, but that image will now be joined by a second image featuring an M for Minneola with hawk wings attached.
Secondary logos are typically simple in design while still visually connected to the primary logo, allowing for more flexibility in their usage. All of the images are created to heighten team spirit, which Coach McGlynn and the players are hoping Hawks fans will bring to every game this year.
While he is looking to build a strong, winning team at Lake Minneola, McGlynn said his main goal is the development of the players. “My goal is to utilize the game of football as a vehicle to develop and educate the next generation of young men towards achieving their goals,” he said shortly after being hired. “I am excited to be named head football coach at Lake Minneola High School and look forward to serving the Minneola community.”
The Hawks’ first game is at Lake Minneola against Land O’Lakes High School. The Hawks will honor Lake County Sheriff’s Master Deputy Bradley Link, who was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 2, with a moment of silence and a special presentation. Link graduated from Lake Minneola High in 2015.
