Lake County Detectives Investigate Possible Connection Between August 8 and August 20 Okahumpka Incidents

On August 29, 2024, Lake County detectives were conducting follow-up investigative efforts related to identifying the suspects from the recent Okahumpka aggravated battery and kidnapping case. While detectives were interviewing subjects in the area of the initial incident, they made contact with a victim who advised of a similar account as the previous adult female victim. The victim, who did not wish to cooperate with filing a police report, stated that August 8, 2024, while walking in the Okahumpka area, she felt something strike her from behind. The victim stated that a heavy-set Hispanic male proceeded to use a sharp weapon to maintain compliance and sexually battered her in a nearby wooded area. She stated that the male suspect left the area in a dark-colored passenger vehicle. However, she could not advise if he was the driver or passenger, leaving the possibility that there was a second suspect present.

Based on the proximity of this offense and the descriptions provided by the second female adult victim being similar in nature, it’s believed that this incident is related to the incident that occurred on August 20.

Detectives are still actively investigating the incidents and are still seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the individuals.

In addition to other investigative efforts, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is taking extra precautions and has increased the amount of law enforcement presence and proactive patrol in the Okahumpka area.

Detectives are also asking for any possible additional victims to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
