Honoring and Listening to Our Officers Went Into Effect

As of Jan. 1, 2025, the “HALO” law – Honoring and Listening to Our Officers – went into effect.

Under the law, if a first responder such as firefighters and medical personnel, or law enforcement asks you to back off in the course of their duties, you must move 25 feet away or face a second-degree misdemeanor charge punishable by up to 60 days in jail or a $500 fine.
