Firefighters from Station 41 left an outreach event at Lakeview Christian School in Lake Placid to respond to a structure fire call. In under 10 minutes, crews arrived on scene at Buddy Avenue in Highlands Park Estates.
The fire began in the kitchen, and the home became engulfed in flames. Only the bedrooms and the carport escaped major damage. The occupant and a dog were able to get out of the home, and no injuries were reported. Through their quick action, the flames were quickly extinguished.
Engine 41, Rescue 41, Rescue 36, Tanker 33 and Tanker 39 responded.
We would like to commend the outstanding work of newly appointed Deputy Chief Brett Hogan, who acted as Incident Commander. On his way home from his shift, he received the call and immediately acted. We also extend our thanks to Battalion Chief Daniel Ciorrocco for his role as Operations Chief, providing critical information that allowed firefighters to swiftly and safely contain the fire. Lastly, we thank all the firefighters from Stations 41 and 36 for their quick, effective response, and Lt. Brandon Fitch for his heroism in leading his squad into the burning building to combat the flames.
We are extremely proud of our firefighters’ efforts, their rapid response, and their success in extinguishing the fire efficiently, while preventing the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
