On August 26, 2024, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received information from a CRIMELINE tip regarding a possible location of a subject with an active felony warrant for violating probation related to possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine charges. Lake County deputies responded to the area along with a K9 unit when they made multiple announcements for the defendant, Melvin Risner, to exit the residence. While giving commands, a male exited the residence and confirmed that Risner was inside. Risner could be heard from inside the residence acknowledging the K9 announcements but still failed to comply. Risner was ultimately apprehended by the K9 and taken into custody.
