So, why aren’t we able to tell you all in advance before a prescribed or controlled burn happens?
The short answer, which many probably won’t like, is that we aren’t a part of the process, so we usually don’t know until the burn is underway.
Now for some technical talk: the Florida Forest Service is the agency given the authority to approve open burning and enforce laws under Florida State Statute Chapter 590.
