Last Week, Clermont Police Officers were on routine patrol in the area of SR 50 and the City limits, when they were alerted to a possible stolen vehicle. Officers quickly located a vehicle matching the description provided by dispatchers and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle stopped but then quickly fled on foot. After a foot chase, the driver, later identified as Fabian Soto, was arrested. Mr. Soto was found to be in possession of a small amount of amphetamine pills and also provided a false name to officers. Additionally, Mr. Soto had an out of state arrest warrant with extradition. After being medically cleared from the hospital, Mr. Soto was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, providing false information, and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held without bond along with his New Jersey arrest warrant.
