An 89-year old woman in Poinciana has employed Jamil for the past six years to do yard work.
One day recently, the woman discovered Jamil near her bedroom, in a part of the house that he has never been allowed to be.
She asked Jamil what he was doing, and he replied that he was watching a butterfly.
Later, the woman discovered that several pieces of jewelry were missing…about $4,000 worth.
She talked to Jamil on the phone about the jewelry, and he apologized for taking it.
He said that he was going through some things right now, and needed the money.
He said he sold the jewelry, but he would try to get it back.
Then Jamil cut off all communication with the woman, and he also tried to avoid contact with the detectives from the PCSO. Tried—did not succeed. Or, as Yoda would say: “Do or do not. There is no try.”
Detectives caught up with Jamil and now he’s going through more things. Like, getting arrested, getting fingerprinted, getting a mug shot, going through the judicial process, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Jamil was charged with Theft from a Person over 65, Exploitation of the Elderly, and Dealing in Stolen Property.
