Helicopter Herb, Stop-Sticks & a Scrap Yard Showdown: Mike & Alyssa’s Not-So-Great Escape

A PCSO deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on a white Ford Fusion in the area of Bomber Road, south of Eagle Lake. The vehicle fled from the deputy, so the deputy turned it over to Herb, our pilot in the PCSO helicopter.

The Ford, which was occupied by Mike and Alyssa from Auburndale, drove to a scrap company on East Main Street, Lakeland, and parked in the back. The helicopter pilot directed deputies to its location.

Deputies arrived at the scrap yard and bade Michael and Alyssa to halt and approach hither unto them.

Did they? No. Apparently, they wanted this story to last a little bit longer.

The couple fled in the Ford, again. And again, Herb watched them from afar, no doubt causing numerous people on the Facebook crime watch pages to post stuff like, “Anyone know why Grady’s helicopter is flying over Reynolds Road?”

Michael thought he made a clean getaway, even though he was riding dirty. What he nor Alyssa knew was that they were driving right toward Captain Walker, who was parked ahead of them.

As the fleeing Ford Fusion passed Captain Walker, it ran over his well-placed stop-sticks that damaged 3-out-4 tires.

One of the damaged tires completely came off, and the Ford fusioned with a light pole. Inertia happens.

And again, Mike and Alyssa tried to flee, this time on foot. But the aforementioned Captain Walker caught them both.

Mike and Alyssa were mostly uninjured, but also unfreedomed by arrest.

Alyssa was charged with resisting without violence. She also had a warrant for drug and paraphernalia possession.

Mike also had a warrant—his was for domestic battery & false imprisonment. He also picked up charges for fleeing to elude, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting without violence, and driving while license suspended/revoked (DWLSR). That last charge is interesting because he’s been convicted SEVEN times for DWLSR.

Mike was also cited for running a stop sign. Chef’s kiss….mwaaah!
