On November 7, 2024, a Lake County deputy was actively patrolling in the Leesburg area when they observed a male operating a moped with no license plate or operating tag light. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop for the violation when the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The driver made evasive turns to flee from the deputy when he lost control of the moped and collided with bushes. The deputy then detained the defendant, Brandon Bowley, who was determined to have no driver’s license and an expired identification card. Post Miranda, Bowley admitted to knowing that he was being pulled over by law enforcement prior to him fleeing. Bowley was found in possession of methamphetamine, two glass smoking devices, a rifle, a handgun, and loaded magazines. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and charged with multiple felonies.
