The East Ridge High School community is proud to announce the induction of Abigail Howell into its prestigious Hall of Fame. A standout athlete and exemplary student, Abby’s achievements in diving and her impact on the school’s athletic program make her a deserving honoree.

Abigail’s diving career took off during her freshman year when she quickly established herself as a formidable competitor. She became the District Champion in 1-meter springboard diving, qualifying for both regional and state competitions. Abby capped off her inaugural season by finishing 7th in the state. This early success set the tone for her high school career, where she would continue to break records and push boundaries.

Over the next three years, Abby’s prowess in diving only grew. Her sophomore year was particularly remarkable; she not only qualified for the regional and state meets again but ultimately claimed the title of State Champion in 1-meter springboard diving. This victory was a testament to her dedication and talent, solidifying her status as one of the top divers in the state.

During her junior year, she continued to shine, reclaiming the title of District Champion and Regional Champion. She finished 3rd in the state, once again earning a place on the podium. Abby’s senior year was equally impressive, as she secured her third District Championship and second Regional Championship. She finished 2nd in the state, once again showcasing her extraordinary skills and determination.

Kerri McCullough, East Ridge High School former swimming and diving coach said “Abby was a standout diver from the moment she joined the team. Her achievements as a three-time district champion and two-time regional champion, alongside competing in four state meets, are extraordinary. Her passion for the sport and her commitment to excellence were evident in everything she did.”

Abby’s success didn’t stop at the high school level. After graduating in 2015, she took her talents to her dream school the University of Florida, where she continued to excel as a diver. Throughout her collegiate career, she earned multiple accolades, including being named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team and appearing on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for four consecutive years. Her performance at the NCAA Diving Zones showcased her skill, where she qualified for all three events, achieving personal bests and ranking among the top competitors in the nation.

Abigail comes from a big family and is one of 7 siblings. With her mother, cousins and uncles being D1 athletes and her father being a top gun fighter pilot, she knew her dreams were achievable with the right mindset and work ethic. After college, Abigail went on to start a media production company, Howell’n Media, and works as a Producer and Creative Director full time in the Tampa area.

Abigail Howell’s induction into the East Ridge Hall of Fame is not just a recognition of her athletic achievements but also a celebration of her character and dedication.
