SEBRING — The third and final suspect in a shooting that took place March 15 at the Veranda Breeze apartments in Sebring has been arrested.
The 37-year-old victim was shot in the hip during a robbery outside an apartment in the complex shortly after 9 p.m. on March 15. He told deputies three men had approached him and demanded his money, then shot him.
Evidence collected at the scene and witness statements led Det. Angelica Olson to identify the three suspects as 35-year-old Julio John Ramos, 20-year-old Jan Franco Diaz-Martinez and 19-year-old Abner Yahir Martinez. Jan and Abner are cousins.
Ramos and Diaz-Martinez were arrested in April. Abner Yahir Martinez fled the country and could not be located at that time but returned on July 9 to turn himself in at the Highlands County Jail. All three are facing charges of armed robbery and attempted homicide.
Note: Not all arrests result in convictions. Everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
