Wearing the handcuffs of the man he killed, Joseph Ables was today sentenced to death for the cold-blooded murder of our friend, colleague and brother, Deputy William J. Gentry Jr.
It has been nearly seven years since the awful day Deputy Gentry was taken from us. Nothing will ever make that pain go away, but the fact that justice has been served, and his killer now faces the maximum punishment, is an important step on the way to ultimate justice for Deputy Gentry and his family.
We want to thank State Attorney Brian Haas and the men and women of the State Attorney’s Office, 10th Judicial Circuit for their work on behalf of Deputy Gentry and all of those that knew and loved him.
Please continue to hold the Gentry family in your prayers.
