The Highlands County Jail expansion project is officially underway!
Demolition has begun on the concrete pads and foundation that previously housed the jail’s dumpsters and part of its parking lot. Next week, office buildings and other structures will be removed as preparations continue for laying the foundation of the expansion.
We appreciate the dedication of the Capital Projects Division for their leadership in managing and overseeing this critical project. Together with the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office – Sheriff Paul Blackman, we are working to create a modern, efficient facility that meets the needs of our community.
