The Winter Haven Public Safety Department has opened applications for youth ages 14 – 21 to attend the 2024 Youth Leadership Council.
The sessions will be held on June 6, June 20, July 11 and July 18.
The four-session program will begin at 8 a.m. and dismiss at 3 p.m.
* Participants will attend classroom sessions, interact with department members through a mandatory ride-a-long, scenario-based activities, drug and gang awareness and tour the Central County Jail and Emergency Communications Center.
The goals of the program are to enhance responsible citizenship; provide positive interaction with police officers and firefighters while educating young people about the challenges and responsibility of public safety; and to encourage young people to take part in other youth programs offered by Winter Haven Public Safety such as Police and Fire Explorers.
Once the application is received, a recommendation from either the school principal or School Resource Officer will be requested.
A Leadership Council shirt and lunch is provided at no cost.
