Acting on a tip from the public, our officers investigated a taxidermy business where a man was said to have brought a deer that he killed after deer hunting season ended in his area. Including the reported out of season deer from the original suspect, they discovered he dropped off an additional deer that was killed in Alabama by a friend. Additionally, officers uncovered 41 violations at the business including improper tagging, no harvest report for any of the deer and two alligator skulls that did not have required accompanying information.
The officers interviewed the two suspects who both admitted to their violations and were charged with taking deer out of season, violating the CWD importation laws, and failure to report a harvest in the deer harvest reporting system.
