District administrators and school leaders met this morning, and based on the assessment of all campuses, Highlands County schools will reopen on Monday, October 14. Superintendent Longshore has been in regular communication with Duke Energy and Glades Electric, and they are confident that all sites will have power well in advance of Monday morning. Power is being restored across the county and it is anticipated that most residents will have power by Monday. We do understand that there may be some still impacted on Monday. In times like these it is always a priority to reopen schools as quickly as possible so that parents can return to work, children can be fed, and so that our staff can check in with students and families to assess any needs they may have as a result of the storm.
