The Cypress Parkway station is the new home for units previously housed at Station 65 with Polk County Fire Rescue.
Osceola County, Florida – The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners, Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS, community leaders and project partners gathered in Poinciana to celebrate the opening of Fire Station 85 on Cypress Parkway.
The station will serve as the home for Engine 85 and Rescue 85, existing units within the department that were housed in a shared station space with Polk County Fire Rescue as Engine/Rescue 65 prior to the new station’s construction. The station will also house an additional rescue unit – Rescue 83 – which will later move into its own station on North Marigold Avenue.
“This facility roots our fire department personnel and their lifesaving service even more closely with the community they serve,” said Osceola County District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington. “Our firefighters represent some of the most direct, impactful public services we offer to our residents and visitors, and this station provides them with the best foundation to conduct their work at the highest level.”
Construction on the $12 million, 12,290 square-foot station facility began in August 2023. Designed by BRPH architects and built by Balfour Beatty with planning services by Ardmore Roderick, the station provides ample room for personnel to live, work, and train while allocating additional room to grow as community needs increase.
“This station represents our department’s ongoing efforts to improve the level of service for Fire Rescue and Emergency services in Osceola County,” said Fire Chief Larry Collier. “This station puts our people in the right place to serve the community in their time of need today, while anticipating the growth our community and department may experience in the future.”
Station 85 is less than 2 miles from Polk County Fire Rescue Station 37, where the units were previously housed. The relocation will not affect the units’ first-due response area.
