The Sheriff’s Office has recently learned of a new scam in which citizens are receiving phone calls and voicemails from someone claiming to be from the Civil Services Division of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The subject informs the recipient of the call that they recently missed a court date, and that money is required in order to avoid a warrant being issued for their arrest. Please know that this is a scam as the Sheriff’s Office would never call and attempt to accept cash in order to mitigate an arrest warrant.
