Kissimmee Gateway Airport has been awarded a $10 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for a significant taxiway rehabilitation project. This project will address critical maintenance needs and improve the airport’s infrastructure.
Recent assessments have identified deterioration in the taxiways at Kissimmee Gateway Airport. The forthcoming project aims to address this, ensuring that the taxiways continue to meet necessary operational standards and support safe and efficient airport operations.
The project scope includes rehabilitating approximately 3,200 linear feet of Taxiway Delta, including Runway Incursion Mitigation System (RIMS) corrections, and partially rehabilitating 800 linear feet of Taxiway Charlie. The work will also include installing Medium Intensity Taxiway Lights (MITLS), guidance and mandatory hold signs, and updates to marking, grading, pavement, and drainage systems.
In addition to the taxiway rehabilitation grant, Kissimmee Gateway Airport has also received $1.4 million this year for the design of a new air traffic control tower.
