On July 6, 2024, a Lake County deputy was on patrol in the Fruitland Park area when he ran a license plate query on a vehicle and discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Leesburg. The deputy was able to follow the vehicle until additional units, as well as Leesburg PD, were able to assist. A felony traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, Michael Arnette, was taken into custody. The female passenger, Ryann Boocher, was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both Arnette, who possessed a suspended license for DUI and Boocher were taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail. The successful recovery of the vehicle allowed it to be turned over to the victim, who stated they never permitted anyone to use the vehicle and were unfamiliar with Arnette.
