Pool Safety

As we’re all trying to beat the heat, many of us are heading to the pool for some refreshing fun. Here are a few friendly reminders to keep everyone safe while enjoying the water:

Always supervise children near water – designate an adult “water watcher” to keep an eye on the kids

Consider taking CPR classes – it’s a life-saving skill that could make all the difference

Enroll in swimming lessons – many local organizations throughout Polk County offer free or low-cost classes

Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water, even when you’re in the pool

Don’t forget the sunscreen – reapply often to protect your skin

Speaking of water watchers, the Auburndale Police Department is giving away free lanyards (kindly provided by All Children’s Hospital) for adults to wear as designated child watchers at the pool, lakes or beach. Stop by the station to pick one up!

Let’s make this a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone. Stay cool out there!.
