On April 20, 2025, Lake County deputies responded to an attempted burglary to a residence in Leesburg. While enroute, deputies were provided with a description of the suspect, who left on foot prior to deputies arrival. The victim advised that the defendant, later identified as Bradley Baird, tried to make entry into his residence through a side door and then made his way around to the backyard before being confronted by the victim. The victim was able to provide video footage of Baird and his direction of travel. While canvassing the area, a deputy located Baird walking on Pala Verda Avenue and observed a large bulge in his pocket. While being questioned, Baird began changing his story and seemed deceptive. Ultimately, Baird was placed under arrest, at which time a search of his person revealed a trafficking amount of methamphetamine (17.1 grams and 3.1 grams bagged weight) in his pocket, as well as a small amount of marijuana. Baird was transported to the Lake County Jail and charged accordingly.
It should be noted that at the time of Baird’s arrest, he was out on bond for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, which has since been revoked.
