On December 27, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 550 US Hwy 27, Walmart, in Clermont regarding a suspicious incident that occurred in the parking lot. The complainant stated that after she secured her juvenile in the rear passenger seat of her vehicle, she proceeded to enter the driver’s seat when she observed a female unknown to her, open the rear passenger door where the juvenile was sitting. The complainant stated that she began to scream and heard the female state she was sorry, shut the door, and walk toward the store. The complainant stated that she did not observe the female touch the juvenile but believed the female reached into her vehicle. The female was described as a Hispanic female with long black hair in a ponytail, wearing a long-sleeve white shirt, dark blue jeans, white sneakers, sunglasses, and carrying a black crossbody bag. Deputies canvassed the area for the female with negative results and reviewed the Walmart surveillance footage that did not capture the incident. Without knowing the female’s intentions, we ask the public to be aware of their surroundings and contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office if they observe similar, suspicious activity in the area.
