The Fire ran their win streak to three this afternoon, as they scored two late goals and beat New College of Florida, 3-1.
Southeastern put the pressure on early striking five shots in the opening 14:06. Finally, Victor Cavalcante connected on a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead at 32:39 for his fourth goal of the season.
Following the Mighty Banyans game-tying goal in the 60th minute, the Fire pelted 10 shots within the next eight minutes. Enrico Lazzari finally found the back of the net for the Fire, heading in a Nico Munari cross and giving Southeastern a 2-1 advantage. On the match’s next shot 7:12 later, Nekoloff tapped in an insurance goal from inside the box assisted by Fabio De Paula for the game’s final goal and a 3-1 win.
It was the first ever meeting between the Fire and New College. With the win, SEU improved to 6-2-1 overall and 4-1 in The Sun Conference. New College of Florida dropped to 3-5-2 and 1-4 in The Sun.
In net, Henrique Cavalini turned away four shots of the five he faced in 90 minutes of work. The Fire outshot the Banyans by a 30-11 margin for the match.
The Fire return to action on Thursday when they host SCAD in a rematch of the September 21st game in Savannah. Kick-off is 7 p.m..
