Driver Says He Was Just Having ‘A Little Fun’ Before Reckless Chase In Groveland

On April 1, 2025, a Lake County deputy was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of SR 50 and Max Hooks Road, Groveland, when they observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. Upon sight of the deputy’s patrol vehicle, the driver was observed turning his lights off and on, running multiple red lights, and passing vehicles in a no-passing zone. Deputies then began canvassing the area after the initial deputy lost sight of the vehicle due to its high rate of speed. The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated. Post Miranda, the driver, identified as Andrew Sweeney-Osorio, was questioned about his reckless driving. Sweeney-Osorio stated that he wanted to have a “little fun” and panicked when seeing the deputy’s patrol vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained, and located inside was a THC pen. Sweeney-Osorio was transported to the Lake County Jail and charged with reckless driving.
