On September 9, 2023, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office members responded to Denes Auto Sales at 6153 South Orange Blossom Trail, Kissimmee, Florida, regarding a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies met with the reporting party, who stated that a black 2012 Chrysler 300, containing a V8 SRT-styled engine, had been stolen from the sales lot. A review of surveillance video confirmed two suspects arrived at the dealership and stole the Chrysler 300. On October 17, 2023, the Chrysler 300 was located in Orange County; however, the vehicle had been completely stripped and dismantled.
During the investigation, members of the South Property Crimes Unit identified the suspects as Miguel Antonio Umana Jr. and Jose Luis Diaz. Detectives initiated covert surveillance and identified two residences associated with the suspects. As a result, a criminal nexus to the residences was established,
and detectives obtained search warrants for each location.
During the execution of the search warrants, detectives discovered that the suspects were operating a chop shop.
In addition, several stolen vehicles and numerous car parts belonging to stolen vehicles from Broward, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, and Polk Counties were located.
On November 8, 2024, the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution formally charged the defendants with the following:
• Grand Theft Greater Than 100K
• Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft Greater Than 100K
• Operating a Chop Shop
On November 13, 2024, the defendants were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to serving our community and increasing public safety.
