Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County Announces Groundbreaking Ceremony for Renovation of Historic George Jenkins Memorial Club 

Winter Haven, Florida – Monday, July 1, 2024 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County, a dedicated non-profit organization serving the community’s at-risk youth with after-school and summer programs, is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the much-anticipated renovation of our historic George Jenkins Memorial Unit. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on July 18th at 2400 Havendale Boulevard in Winter Haven. 

Originally constructed in 1967, this building has been a cornerstone of the Winter Haven community, providing a safe and nurturing environment for generations of young people. This renovation marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing the facilities and services we offer, ensuring that we continue to meet the evolving needs of our youth. 

The ceremony will feature remarks from key community leaders, Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County executives, and special guests who have been instrumental in making this renovation possible. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the renovation plans, which include state-of-the-art facilities designed to support a wide range of educational and recreational activities.

The renovation project has been made possible through the generous support of donors in the community. The new design will include updated classrooms, recreational areas, and a technology center. Together, they’ll provide club members with all the resources they need to develop themselves as members of the Winter Haven Community.
