A witness caught JR in the middle of a crime one evening.
JR was on a construction site stealing sod and loading it into his silver 2023 Nissan Altima.
Fifteen squares of sod.
The witness called the PCSO and not only reported the crime, the witness gave a perfect description of JR and his car, the tag number, AND he followed JR to his house and gave the dispatcher JR’s address!
Deputies went to JR’s now-grassier home—the Nissan Altima was parked in the driveway, and a wheelbarrow of sod was in the yard.
At the front door, deputies made contact with JR, who admitted that there weren’t any “No Trespassing” signs, so he figured he could take the sod. But that’s not how it works.
As the deputy moved to arrest JR, he tried to pull away into the house.
Deputies got him secured, then took him to the Polk Pokey where he was charged with grand theft from a posted construction site, trespassing on a posted construction site, and resisting.
The sod, valued at about $43, was collected by deputies and returned to the construction site.
