The Lakeland High girls volleyball team gathered for their end-of-season banquet, and there was a heartfelt tribute to the late Julia Black.
Black, a junior at Harrison School for the Arts and member of the LHS volleyball squad, died in October from sudden cardiac arrest caused by a pericardial infection.
Her teammates had this to say following their banquet this past weekend:
“Although our roster was one person short today, Julia Black was named the 2023 Anchor Award recipient for her character, leadership, resilience and teamwork. This plaque will forever hang in the locker room for future Lady Naughts to see. Once a Dreadnaught, always a Dreadnaught.”
