A Sebring High School student was arrested today after it was discovered he had two firearms in his vehicle at the school.
Just before 1 p.m., 18-year-old senior Alex Morales-Salvador was discovered with a vape. During questioning by a school resource deputy, Morales-Salvador appeared to be more nervous than the situation would dictate. Under further questioning by the deputy, Morales-Salvador admitted he had a gun in his vehicle.
When the vehicle was searched, a pistol was located in the pocket of a door and an AR-style rifle was located in the trunk. There was ammunition for both weapons inside the vehicle, as well as two knives.
Morales-Salvador refused to speak to detectives. He was arrested and is being charged with two counts of possession of a firearm on school grounds and two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds.
The investigation is ongoing, but at this time there is no indication of a threat being made against the school or that there was anyone else involved in this incident.
