Highlands County Board of County Commissioners wishes Congratulations to Public Information Officer Karen Clogston, who was presented with the Employee of the Quarter award for the second quarter of 2024 at yesterday’s board meeting.

“Since assuming the role of Public Information Officer in June 2023, Karen has demonstrated an impressive commitment to excellence, tackling challenges head-on and driving positive change. Her dedication to community outreach is evident in the expanded programs designed to reach more children, ensuring they are equipped with essential safety knowledge.
“Notably, Karen has fostered collaborative relationships with the local library system and emergency management, recognizing the importance of a united front in community preparedness. Her innovative approach extends to researching and developing new strategies for reaching families during disaster situations, ensuring they receive timely and vital information.
“Karen remains vigilant, diligently monitoring county affairs and promptly alerting residents of any emerging issues that may impact them. She is quick to celebrate the achievements of the county staff, recognizing and highlighting their hard work and dedication, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
“Karen’s professionalism and pleasant demeanor make her a valuable asset to the entire county.”
“Karen Clogston is such a wonderful coworker with which to plan, execute and share ideas. She always goes above to highlight all departments and divisions of the HCBCC and is enthusiastic about all she learns and shares.
“Not only does Karen share what staff provide to her, but she also actively seeks out ideas for programs and ways to share our efforts! She does all of this without complaint, even when our ideas may increase her workload. Karen has attended events, visited our division multiple times to take photos and given advice on articles and ideas.
“On top of all she regularly does and the extra ideas, she somehow finds time to review articles and graphics for accuracy and provides feedback in such a positive, caring way.
“Karen is a wonderful example of how teamwork and working together can accomplish many things and how we are all one HCBOC working to serve the community to the best of our abilities – together.”
