St. Cloud Police Department receives numerous 9-1-1 calls

Our officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls starting at 6:41 p.m. Saturday regarding a domestic disturbance with a gun at 2760 Nottel Dr. When officers arrived and approached the front door of the house, they were met with gunfire. Officers retreated and sent a drone into the house. It also was fired at.

A crisis negotiator got the suspect, Jose Manuel Otero-Fontanez, 48, on the phone and talked him into surrendering peacefully. His wife’s body was found in an upstairs bathroom. The couple’s children — one adult and one juvenile — escaped unharmed. No police officers were injured.

Otero-Fontanez has been charged with first degree murder and booked into the Osceola County Jail early Sunday morning.

Our department is working with the couple’s children to get them the services they will need following this incident. Anyone experiencing domestic violence or domestic abuse can call the National Domestic Abuse Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (1-800-799-SAFE).
